CARDIOVASCULAR HEALTH

Cardiovascular disease is one of the most prevalent conditions in the population today. Many consider it to be a normal part of aging. I completely disagree. Not only is it not a normal part of aging, but it has such serious side effects that to be passive about it is naive. In addition to diet and lifestyle changes (which have a great impact on blood pressure), there are herbs that can help to control abnormalities and reduce risks.

Conditions commonly improved with naturopathic medicine include,

  • High blood pressure

  • Hypercholesterolemia

  • Low blood pressure

  • Deep vein thrombosis

  • Congestive heart failure

  • Pulmonary hypertension

What you can already start doing:
  • Exercise. Even just the smallest bit. Moving will help set off a cascade that will keep blood pressure under control

  • Cut back on stimulants like caffeine. Even for low blood pressure! If you have low blood pressure, your adrenal glands need to be toned, not squeezed and shut down by stimulants!

  • Clean eating. A Mediterranean diet, high in veggies and omega-3 fatty acids, will definitely be beneficial. Honestly, all these "fad" diets out there are all promoting one thing: lots of veggies, good protein, and no packaged food.  There are no 'healthy' diets out there that say to buy you food prepackaged and manufactured. Let's take this common denominator and work with it - increase your vegetable intake, cut back on processed foods. Cut back on sugary drinks and focus on water and green tea. It will be an adjustment but it is by no means impossible to eat clean.

  • Book an appointment. Each of the above health concerns, while related to the heart, are so different that it's tough to give general advice. You are not just a general symptom. What else is going on with you? Your needs are different from everyone else's, so let's talk about them.

If any of the above relates to your case, and you’re ready to begin the healing process, contact the clinic to book your initial consult. If you still aren’t sure, book a free 15-minute no-obligation consult to find out a few more details on what naturopathic medicine is and if it is applicable to you.
